The guy told me to “have fun with it”. I was thinking a guitar pedal or three, maybe some motorcycle gear, some home improvement stuff... But I also have been really good about budgeting lately and the responsible thing would have been to just use it for food for the next two months , delivered via Amazon.
I decided to split the difference, and ordered the fanciest grub available via Whole Foods.
I’ve never spent so much money on eggs or cheese i n my entire life. $7 for a dozen eggs?! I feel like I’m getting ripped off w hen the Kroger eggs I buy are more than $0.99/dozen....
And the cheese... Oh man. I’ve seen wagyu for less per pound. Smoked mozerella. 60 day aged chedder. Smoked “flagship” chedder. We’ll see how it compares to a simple old Tillamook sharp chedder.
I was hoping to ball out on some exotic fruits, but whole foods is pretty lacking in the produce department I guess. Ah well.
My buddies in the restaurant industry (well, the females at least) get astronomical tips fairly often, but it’s unexpected in my line of work. Thank you stranger, my goal is to get to the point where I can do the same :)

Thats awesome! If I get a $20 olive garden gift card I’ m doing pretty good. I mean it’ s still debatable if its better than nothing, but at attempt was made.

That cheese can be crazy expensive - I like Beecher’ s macaroni and cheese, the Costco pack appears to be cheaper than the regular price of the cheese alone.
I am not a big shopper there, but m y Whole Foods cheese pick is Kerrygold soft cheese wedges, not too expensive, and really good.

I gotta say, Metropolitan Market is seemingly in a league of it’s own. Their deli is the best I’ve seen outside of Asian markets, their cider selection is top-tier, house brands are great, meats are great, fruit selections are great... When’ s the last time you saw hu ckleberries sitting next to three different raspberry varieties, rambutan, and Jack fruit?

OK, what’s the Cab? There are too many here to keep track of, but that looks familiar & I can’t place it.
The smoked Beecher’s is good, but if you’re a fan of Tillamook’s extra sharp white cheddar (the 2 year stuff), you might be let down.

Damn, that’s a real dick move.

I’ve never actually been to a Metropolitan Market. Whole Foods feels more than posh enough for me. Sounds interesting, maybe they have some offbeat/Euro stuff I like (drink mixes/cookies/crackers etc). I’ll have to check it out sometime.
There’s a PCC opening soon in Bellevue in the new traffic nightmare complex at Ne 4th and 116th, that’ll be a fun driving experience.

You live off $50 a month for food? I just ate an entire small beef roast, rice, and homemade gravy, which I believe was at least a $9 meal.

Expensive cheese is often quite worth it. Buying online can be tricky cause you cant taste it ahead of time. So, good luck!
My gf bought me three different super fancy blue cheeses (she hates them, i love them) as part of my birthday gift and they have given me a month of pleasure.
Congrats on the large tip and i hope you enjoy.

Oh, you mean “large” as in “amount.” My mind went somewhere else.

I went into the Whole Foods down the block a few times since they opened, every time I nope’d the hell out when I saw the prices.

ground bison, ground lamb , fancy cheese, fancy eggs, and are those pretzel rolls back there? That’s going to be a delicious burger.

Being a Wisconsin boy I have bought some expensive cheese. I think the most was a block of 10 or 15 year sharp cheddar that was like 20 bucks. Boy was it good tho. The company I used to work for sent out 50 dollar gift cards for a local meat and cheese place so every year I’d spend it on some stakes, cheese, and a 6 pack of some fancy micro brew.
Also speaking of odd tips about a week ago I got a gift card to a competitor pizza place as a tip.

One of the most “better than nothing” tips I’ve received was a drink chip for a really shitty bar. Said bar is only like 3 blocks from my house and I’ve still never used it cuz I don’t really was to go there.

I'm not real knowledgeable on wine, I just like keeping a few bottles on hand. At this point I just grab anything from Chateau St Michelle and assume it will be good

Not a bad gamble. Certainly better than picking up a bottle from their neighbor across the road, Columbia. They’ve gone into the crapper since being purchased by Gallo.
( I may be a bit jaded, since I oversaw production there for years, and I’m appalled at their decline in quality since moving production out of Woodinville . )

Very nice! We often give bags of snacks to delivery folks. Maybe I should slip a Amazon gift cards into those bags every now and then.
